It has been studied that 1 in 8 employees will be caring for someone who is ill, frail or who has a disability. It is important that as an employer we recognise that fact and support our staff.
- We as an employer understand that we must support carers who work for us and that they may need support to balance their work and caring commitments.
- We must actively encourage carers to apply for employment as often their experience and lifeskills can add to the strengths of our organisation.
According to the 2011 census, there are over 42,000 carers in East Lancashire.
It is estimated that there are around 6.5 million carers in the UK, around 1 in every 8 people.
Three out of every five people in the UK will become a carer at some point in the lifetime.
It is estimated that carers save the UK economy £119 billion every year – this is greater than the cost of the NHS and defence budgets combined!!
This means that on average, every carer looking after an ill or disabled relative saves the national economy £15,260 per year.Contact Us
